Day 88 ~ Untapped talent...

Back in Connecticut, there is a young man sitting in a cubicle by the large plate-glass window (at least he was there when I left 2 1/2 years ago...) at a publishing company in Guilford. Josh periodically emails a newsletter to the freelance copyeditors and proofreaders to keep us abreast of miscellaneous changes in policies and house styles. He always injects humor into this publication...and I always find quite a few things that make me chuckle. For example, the newsletter I received today had this gem:
THAT MAN IN THE BROWN PANTS TOOK ALL MY MONEY!
To bring our policies in line with other companies, we are now covering some of the cost of shipping packages back to us. Rather than paying separate shipping costs, we’ll compensate for shipping by paying you for additional hours. Here’s how the process will work... [he goes on to explain the procedure...]
He adds:
Also note that we are still unable to reimburse you for gas, supplies such as pens and sticky notes, packing material, boxes, snacks, rubber chickens, voodoo dolls, or other necessities—though some of the above may be itemized on your tax return with guidance from a certified professional.
[And who is the man in the brown pants?? The UPS man, of course!]
