Designing the Dress

Looks simple, doesn't it? Yes, it does! Well, I certainly hope it is simple! It is described as a strapless A-line gown with three bands of ribbon at the waist and a sheer organza overlay skirt. My first step in the creation of Jacquie's gown is making the test bodice with a white muslin fabric, including the zipper, the lining, and even the "boning" to hold it all up! I will be starting tomorrow. My friend will be bringing in her "dress form" that I can borrow...and I am so grateful! I can adjust it to Jacquie's measurements so it can "try on" the gown, and it won't be just hanging on a hanger for months. I have to warn Caleb when he comes home about the "woman" standing in his room! : )
